Police on Saturday reclassified an assault case as murder, following the death in hospital of a 46-year-old woman.
The force said it had received a report from a staff member at a hotel on Prince Edward Road West of a woman collapsed in a room.
Officers found the woman lying on a chair with apparent facial injuries. She was sent to Kwong Wah Hospital, where she died later in the day.
Police later arrested a 42-year-old man in Mong Kok on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
