Financial Secretary Paul Chan on Sunday said the government is committed to promoting the concept of 'Tourism Everywhere' to increase Hong Kong's competitiveness as a tourist city.

Writing on his weekly blog, Chan suggested one way to attract more tourists would be to enhance the different harbourfronts across the SAR.

Chan said food stalls would be set up along the harbour in Central, Wanchai, North Point, and Tsim Sha Tsui and that the West Kowloon Cultural District management board would continue to roll out events that mix artistry, culture, food, and entertainment.

Chan said around 570,000 tourists arrived in Hong Kong on the first two days of the May Golden Week holiday, and over 85 per cent were from the mainland. He said this was a 31 per cent increase from the same period last year.
