Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 55.02 points, or 0.23 percent, to open at 23,494.44 on Tuesday.

On the mainland the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.5 percent to 3,386.23 at the opening, while the Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.98 percent higher at 10,401.95. (Xinhua)
