Police on Wednesday said they arrested a woman in connection with attacks that left two people injured in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Officers said their preliminary investigation showed the attacks were not premeditated.

Police said a woman got into an argument with a cleaner inside a shopping mall and brandished a pair of scissors. The cleaner was unharmed.

The woman then left the mall and walked along Canton Road towards Haiphong Road.

“During this time, the suspect suddenly kicked a female pedestrian in the belly... A security guard from a nearby mall tried to mediate, but the suspect took out her scissors again and tried to attack the security guard," chief inspector Lam Pak-kiu told a media briefing.

“The suspect then crossed the road and suddenly kicked another female pedestrian’s right thigh. When the pedestrian tried to stop her, the suspect attacked her with the scissors."

Lam said other passers-by tried to separate the pair, and the suspect fled the scene.

She was arrested shortly afterwards.

The two pedestrians who were attacked suffered minor injuries and have since been discharged from hospital.
