The Hang Seng Index rose 65.63 points, or 0.28 percent, to open at 23,398.35 points on Tuesday.
Mainland stocks also opened higher, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.12 percent to open at 3,371 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.11 percent higher at 10,182 points.
Meanwhile, shares in mainland battery giant CATL soared 13 percent on its Hong Kong debut on Tuesday after raising US$4.6 billion in the world's biggest initial public offering this year.
As of 9:40 am HK time, the firm was trading at $297 a share, compared with its listing price of $263. (Agencies)
