It was music to the ears for fans of award-winning pianist Aristo Sham, who on Tuesday gave a performance at RTHK.
It gave Sham's fans the opportunity to meet him in person after he won the renowned Van Cliburn international piano competition last month in the United States.
After performing in the show that lasted about an hour, the 29-year-old said it was an overwhelming experience to meet the public, adding that he's grateful to be "an ambassador for classical music."
"I'm very happy to meet everyone in Hong Kong, especially after the overwhelming response and support I received from everyone here, which I never expected," he told reporters.
"It's such a privilege and a huge feeling of gratitude."
Director of Broadcasting Angelina Kwan greeted Sham during the programme.
She said his success showed that the people of Hong Kong can achieve great results on the international stage.
"I'm sure Aristo's award can encourage more young people from Hong Kong to make it beyond the city and become famous overseas," she said.
Kwan added that there's a strong bond between Sham and the broadcaster, because he has performed at the station from a young age and many staff members have seen him grow up.
More than 100 fans of different ages attended the show, and they were all excited to see him perform live.
"I hope to see him play the piano maturely to let the world know about his talent," Eric Lok told RTHK.
Another fan, 10-year-old Galice, was thrilled to see Sham too.
"I'm really excited and happy, because he's so great, I wish I will become a pianist like him," she said.
The award-winning pianist said he'll be going on international tours and loves to perform more in front of the local audience.
