Mainland authorities on Wednesday said they are assisting the family of a Hong Kong teenager who died while climbing a snow-covered mountain in Sichuan.
According to mainland media reports, the 16-year-old was on a slope of one of the four peaks of Mount Siguniang when he slid on Monday. He was later found dead by authorities.
Confirming the incident, the Mount Siguniang Scenic Area Administration told RTHK that the victim's family had arrived in the provincial capital Chengdu.
The SAR Immigration Department said on Tuesday that it was following up on the incident through the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Chengdu.
A spokesperson said "appropriate advice and feasible assistance were offered" in accordance with the wishes of the family involved.
