The DAB says the government needs to make Hung Hom more accessible if its plan to create a new landmark waterfront site there is to be a success.

The project is to feature berthing facilities to promote "yacht tourism", along with a 50-storey commercial and residential complex.

But the party on Sunday said there are a lot of geographical disadvantages to the area which may hinder its development, such as limited transport options to places including Kai Tak and the West Kowloon Cultural District.

“Ferry is a very important transport to consider in our district. We have a lot of ferry piers, some are in use and some can be repaired with an insignificant cost,” said DAB lawmaker Starry Lee.

“We would suggest the government consider introducing more sea taxis to connect different areas, like the Kowloon waterfront and Hong Kong waterfront,” she added.

The party added that more transport options are needed to connect Hung Hom with Kowloon City to help boost the concept of "tourism is everywhere".
