Thousands of people on Sunday seized the final opportunity to board vessels of a People's Liberation Army (PLA) navy fleet visiting Hong Kong.
The visitors were given tours of the Shandong aircraft carrier, the Zhanjiang missile destroyer, as well as the Yuncheng missile frigate.
Many visitors said they felt proud to be able to see different facilities on board the vessels.
"I'm happy to see what people in the navy do, what they have. I want to become one of them, too," a primary four pupil told RTHK.
"I saw the big cannon, the helicopters. I find them very cool."
Cheng Shurong, a non-commissioned officer, told reporters that this was the second time his ship had visited Hong Kong and he enjoyed meeting the locals.
"I'm very proud to be here again. I can sense the enthusiasm of the people, they're very friendly," he said.
"Once they come on board, they ask to take pictures with us. I can feel the firm belief the compatriots place in our navy."
The vessels are due to depart Hong Kong on Monday.
The government said nine ferry routes to and from outlying islands will be suspended for two hours from around 10am.
