The Hang Seng Index rose 4.75 points, or 0.02 percent, to open at 24,033 points on Friday.

Up north, the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was up marginally, less than 0.1 percent, to open at 3,509 while the Shenzhen Component Index opened down 0.1 percent at 10,618.

This follows gains on Wall Street overnight, as US stocks shrugged off concerns about tariffs.

Airline stocks led Thursday's rally on Wall Street, after Delta Air Lines delivered second-quarter earnings that topped expectations and raised its full-year profit outlook.

On the economic front, the latest labour market data supported the bullish tone, with initial jobless claims falling more than forecast last week.

Meanwhile, Nvidia's stock market value ended the US trading session above US$4 trillion for the first time.

Shares of the AI giant ended up 0.75 percent at US$164.10, extending its lead over Apple and Microsoft as it benefits from a surge in demand for artificial-intelligence technologies. (Xinhua, additional reporting by Reuters)
