Police on Saturday said they had arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of trafficking in dangerous drugs.
Officers made the the arrest on Friday in a subdivided unit in Kwun Tong and seized 30 kilos of suspected cocaine, estimated to have a market value of about HK$24 million.
The arrested man, surnamed Tsang, claimed to be unemployed, police said.
He has been detained and his case will be mentioned in the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Court on Monday.
"Based on preliminary investigation, we believe that someone was lured by financial incentives from a drug trafficking group to operate their drug storage and deliver drugs," Inspector of Narcotics Bureau, Ng Ka-wai said.
He added the drug syndicate tried to take advantage of the high concentration of buildings in the area, to conceal their operations and increase the difficulty of the police's investigations.
