The fourth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee will be held in Beijing in October.
That's according to a decision made at a Politburo meeting chaired by President and general secretary of the Party Central Committee, Xi Jinping.
According to the main agenda of the upcoming plenary session, the Politburo will report its work to the Party Central Committee, and the session will study the proposals for formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for national economic and social development, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The Politburo meeting on Wednesday also analysed and studied the current economic situation and made arrangements for economic work in the second half of this year.
Top leaders pledged to support the world's second-largest economy facing various risks by managing disorderly competition among firms and beefing up capacity management in key industries in the year's second half.
"Disorderly competition among enterprises must be governed according to laws and regulations," according to a summary of the proceedings of the Politburo meeting.
"Capacity management in key industries should be advanced."
In the second half of the year, China will keep policy stable while boosting flexibility, looking to stabilise employment, companies, the market, and expectations, Xinhua said.
Beijing will continue to pursue a more proactive fiscal policy and an "appropriately loose" monetary policy.
Officials will also unleash the potential of domestic demand and take steps to boost consumption. (Xinhua/Reuters)
