Athletes from the Hong Kong, China delegation are heading to Chengdu to compete in the World Games (TWG 2025), which open on Thursday.
More than 20 athletes from the SAR will be competing in seven disciplines: air sports, billiards, karate, orienteering, squash, water skiing and wushu.
In a statement, Wong Po-kee, the delegation's Chef de Mission and honorary deputy secretary general of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, said TWG 2025 represent the pinnacle of international competition for sports not included in the Olympic programme.
"Enjoying semi-home field advantage, our athletes are fully prepared and look forward to performing at their best against top athletes from around the world," Wong said.
"I hope they can achieve outstanding results while gaining valuable experience and enjoying competing in Sichuan, the Land of Abundance.
"I call on the public to take this opportunity to learn more about the diverse sports featured in TWG 2025 and show their support for our athletes."
TWG 2025 will run from August 7 to 17, featuring more than 200 medal events across 34 disciplines.
