The Education Bureau on Friday said it had temporarily shut down Tsung Tsin Middle School in Cheung Sha Wan.
The school was said to be in a partnership with a Shenzhen-based tutorial centre, Capture Star, that earlier promoted a Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) exam programme for the 2025 academic year, with annual fees set at up to HK$190,000.
But the Education Bureau said it had not received an application from the tutorial centre to operate a school or run courses at the school's premises in Cheung Sha Wan.
The bureau said the Permanent Secretary for Education had found the conduct of the school manager of Tsung Tsin Middle School unsatisfactory, and ordered the school's suspension.
In response to media questions, a spokesman for the bureau said it had been in contact with school supervisor Wong Wah-on and the school sponsoring body Tsung Tsin Association.
The bureau noted that a number of civil lawsuits are currently in progress with Tsung Tsin Association, and it had been keeping an eye on the latest developments.
It said it would continue to follow up on the matter, adding if there had been any unlawful acts, stringent action would be taken to safeguard the well-being of students.
