The Hang Seng Index rose 153 points, or 0.6 percent, to open at 25,766 on Thursday, building on an almost 2.6 percent gain the previous day on US rate cut hopes.
Mainland stocks also opened higher with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.06 percent at 3,685, and the Shenzhen Component Index up 0.05 percent at 11,557. (Xinhua)
