Police on Sunday said they have arrested two more people in connection with a case involving suspected offering of ride-hailing services for payment using illegal workers.
So far, officials have arrested seven people in connection with the case.
The latest arrests involved a 46-year-old local woman and a 36-year-old mainland woman who were nabbed in Lok Ma Chau on Saturday on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and aiding and abetting a person who breached the conditions of stay in Hong Kong.
The mainland woman is also suspected of being involved in money laundering.
Both of them have been detained for investigation.
Earlier, two men were charged with offering illegal ride-hailing services.
Three others were also arrested for conspiracy to defraud, aiding and abetting a person who breached the conditions of stay in Hong Kong, and money laundering.
Officers earlier launched an investigation after receiving reports from the public that some e-hailing drivers were unfamiliar with the routes and spoke unauthentic Cantonese, triggering suspicion that they might be illegal workers.
