The Hang Seng Index fell 154 points, or 0.61 percent, to open at 24,968 on Wednesday.

The drop follows a sell-off on Wall Street overnight, as stocks pulled back from recent highs.

Mainland stocks also opened lower with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.28 percent at 3,716, and the Shenzhen Component Index down 0.61 percent at 11,749. (Xinhua)
