Power bills on Hong Kong Island will be cheaper next month as the utility lowers its fuel clause charge for September.
It will mark the seventh time in the first nine months of this year that Hongkong Electric has lowered its fuel clause charge.
In a statement, the power company said the charge next month would be around three quarters of the amount in January.
"Taking a typical three-person household consuming 275 units of electricity a month as an example, after factoring in the government's subsidy, the net tariff payable in September will be HK$281.40, down by 9.9 percent compared to January," it said.
The company added that because of ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, fuel prices could remain volatile for the rest of the year.
It pledged to continue managing costs in a responsible manner.
