Hong Kong tennis star Coleman Wong will join the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) to be held at Kai Tak Arena on October 14 and 15.
Wong will be competing alongside seven other players, including Andrey Rublev, who ended his historic run at the US Open.
UTS tour founder Patrick Mouratoglou said the organisers are delighted to have the star play world-class rivals on home ground.
"While finalising Hong Kong as the host of UTS' Asian debut, we witnessed a local superstar enjoying incredible form this year."
"His remarkable recent achievements prompted us to ask – why not extend a special invitation?"
Wong returned home on Monday after making history by becoming the first Hong Kong player to reach the third round of the US Open.
He said on Tuesday that the Kai Tak Arena being indoors means that competitions will be faster paced, which is advantageous for him.
"This is a very new experience, so I will really enjoy it," Wong said.
"I played Rublev in [the] US Open, also talked with other players as well, so definitely helped [gear up for the UTS] and to prepare for other tournaments as well."
As per UTS tradition, he has chosen the nickname "The Chosen Wong" for the competition.
He said that he settled on that instead of "The Chosen one" because he is the only Hong Kong player at the tournament.
"Even though Hong Kong is such a small place, we can still produce tennis players," Wong said, adding that he hopes Hong Kong fans will continue to support him regardless of whether he wins or not.
