Three people were on Thursday found guilty for their involvement in bomb plots in 2020.

Ho Cheuk-wai, Lee Ka-pan and Cheung Ka-chun were found guilty of conspiring to cause an explosion of a nature likely to endanger life or cause serious injury to property under the Crimes Ordinance.

This was an alternative charge after they and four others were cleared of a terrorism charge for allegedly placing bombs in the men’s washroom of Caritas Medical Centre and at Lo Wu MTR Station in 2020.

No one was injured in the incidents.

An eighth defendant was also acquitted.

A High Court jury delivered its verdict on Thursday afternoon after deliberations that began on Monday in the trial lasting more than 100 days.

Sentencing for the trio is set for October 10.

Justice Johnny Chan thanked the jurors for their time and effort and said they're permanently excused from jury service.

Cheung Pak-kit, a superintendent with the national security police, said the force will study the legal issues raised by the verdicts with the Department of Justice.

He added officers will continue to actively invoke the National Security Law and the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance in law enforcement.
