Legislators say the government should make better use of post-mega concert crowds as part of its push for a night economy.
A report by the Business and Professionals Alliance for Hong Kong outlines seven suggestions to develop the night economy.
Lawmaker Priscilla Leung recounts she was left disappointed to find limited options for food after attending a concert by Nicholas Tse.
She said this shows the government should encourage more restaurants or night markets to stay open to widen the attractions for mainlanders to stay in Hong Kong after a concert.
Alliance chairman and fellow lawmaker Lo Wai-kwok said regulations should be relaxed for food stalls with a case-by-case approval strategy adopted around the use of open flames in stalls.
"Chinese [food lovers] like the smell of it, the taste of it and of course the look of it, and sometimes without open flames you just don't get those [qualities], right?"
Lo further added that developing a night economy is important in every big city, pointing out that Hong Kong had a very active night life pre-Covid.
"People in Shanghai [are] asking me now, night life in Shanghai is back, how about Hong Kong?" he said.
"I said it's coming, we shall be making suggestions to the government."
