The Commissioner for Belt and Road on Saturday said that Hong Kong can help countries achieve carbon neutrality sooner.
Speaking on an RTHK radio programme, Nicholas Ho said many developing countries want to cooperate with the SAR on Green Silk Road developments.
"We have green finance, green international standards, recognition for green building materials and professional green services that can help them meet the required standards," Ho said.
"All stakeholders in green industries have already fulfilled international standards, which allow them to obtain more capital, so their projects are of a high quality."
Ho also said Hong Kong is hoping to see more new flight routes to destinations in Asean, Central Asia, and Middle Eastern countries. Direct flights between the SAR and the Saudi capital, Riyadh, resumed last year after being suspended in 2017.
"Including regions along the Silk Road Economic Belt: Asean, the Middle East, and Central Asia. The demand for flights to Hong Kong has increased.
"Frequency of travel to Hong Kong - such as for events, meetings, or roadshows for their projects, or even cultural events - has increased."
Ho was speaking ahead of the two-day 10th Belt and Road Summit that kicks off in Hong Kong on September 10.
