All 21 seats in a by-election for the 2025 Election Committee subsectors were successfully returned on Sunday, with 28 candidates vying for the spots.
Among the subsectors, Amy Cheung won in Architectural, Surveying, Planning and Landscape by drawing lots, after she and another candidate garnered the same number of votes, at 26.
In the area, district fight crime and district fire safety committees of Hong Kong and Kowloon, six of seven candidates prevailed, among them Wilson Or, a DAB district councillor, while six of eight won through in the New Territories subsector.
Of the other subsectors, Jacky Kwok won in Commercial (Third), two were elected in Labour, and five were chosen in Technology and Innovation out of six hopefuls.
Overall turnout topped 97 percent, with 3,534 of 3,631 registered voters casting their ballots.
The chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, David Lok, said the entire process was smooth.
He said it was a great opportunity for electoral officers to fine-tune the use of an electronic vote counting system, which will be adopted for the functional constituency polls in the Legislative Council elections in December.
"While this was a smaller election, it allowed us to prepare for the bigger and more complicated Legislative Council election at the end of the year," he told reporters.
"This poll allowed our electoral officers to prepare and practise, and for us to review the use of computer and electronic registrar systems, and whether there is anything we can improve on."
The poll ended at 6pm and officers completed vote-counting about 2 1/2 hours later.
Chief Executive John Lee congratulated the winning candidates.
"I would like to thank all voters who participated in the by-elections for jointly electing patriots dedicated to building a better home for Hong Kong," he said in a statement.
"I also extend my gratitude to all personnel within and outside of the government involved in organising the by-elections for their dedicated efforts in ensuring the election was conducted in a fair, just, honest, smooth, safe and orderly manner."
There were 93 vacancies that had to be filled, with 72 of them returned uncontested.
The Election Committee is responsible for nominating and voting for Chief Executive candidates, as well as selecting a total of 40 lawmakers in the Election Committee constituency.
