Hong Kong on Thursday confirmed another imported case of chikungunya fever, raising the total number of infections for the year to 19.
According to the Centre for Health Protection (CHP), the patient is a 70-year-old man who lives in Kwun Tong District.
The CHP said he visited Jiangmen in Guangdong province between September 1 and 14.
He then developed a fever on Monday and sought medical attention.
He was subsequently admitted to hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Health authorities have placed three individuals under medical surveillance: two people who travelled with the man to Jiangmen and one household contact. All three are currently asymptomatic.
