The Transport Department on Saturday said the east of Hong Kong Island should expect traffic disruption after an unexploded Second World War bomb was found at a construction site on Pan Hoi Street in Quarry Bay the previous day.

In a statement, the department said parts of King's Road would be closed and that traffic in Sai Wan Ho, Taikoo Shing, and North Point is expected to be busier as a result. It also said tram services and 21 bus routes would be affected with most of the affected bus routes switching to the Eastern Island Corridor.

On Friday, about 6,000 people were evacuated from Quarry Bay with police for the first time using drones to issue warnings in both Cantonese and English, while also explaining to people in person.

MTR train services will not be affected but only exit C of Quarry Bay Station will remain open.
