The government has announced the resumption of schools as life in Hong Kong gradually returned to normal after it was battered by Super Typhoon Ragasa.
The observatory issued the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 at 8:20pm on Wednesday, replacing a T8 that lasted seven hours.
The government announced that primary and secondary schools will resume on Thursday, unless advised otherwise.
But with the observatory saying the No. 3 signal will be in force until at least 7am on Thursday, there won't be classes for whole-day or AM kindergartens, as well as schools for children with physical or intellectual disabilities.
"If the premises or the surrounding environment of individual schools are still undergoing cleaning or repair works, schools may decide whether to continue to suspend classes according to their school-based needs," the government added in its statement.
Schools should then inform all parents and students of the arrangements as soon as possible, and keep the campus open if it's safe to do so to cater to pupils in need.
Schools were suspended on Tuesday and Wednesday as Ragasa edged closer to the SAR.
And as the threat posed by the storm subsided, public transport is gradually returning to normal.
The MTR has resumed services except for the Light Rail.
Some Light Rail routes are up and running again but full operations won't resume for the day due to debris on tracks and damaged equipment, the railway company said.
As for bus services, more than 80 KMB and Long Win routes will resume from 9:20pm, although some may be diverted due to fallen trees and flooding.
Similarly, Citybus will resume most of its routes, including some that connect to the airport.
Cross-boundary shuttle buses at Lok Ma Chau have already returned to normal operations.
The government said as of 8pm, there had been 22 reports of flooding, four reports of landslide and more than 1,200 reports of fallen trees across the city.
The Hospital Authority said 101 people sought treatment at the accident and emergency departments of public hospitals.
The Buildings Department said it dealt with 22 incidents relating to signboards and scaffolding.
