The observatory said on Thursday that it will cancel all storm signals or replace the Standby Signal No. 1 by the strong monsoon signal when Ragasa no longer poses a threat to Hong Kong.

The weather forecaster issued the standby signal to replace the No. 3 warning at 8.20am on Thursday as Ragasa continues to move away from Hong Kong while weakening.

The T3 signal was issued at 8.20pm on Wednesday.

"A ridge of high pressure is affecting the coast of southeastern China. Under the combined effect of Ragasa and the ridge of high pressure, local winds are still occasionally strong offshore and on high ground," the forecaster said.
