Two people – an assistant school principal and a woman – have appeared in court on suspicion of perverting the course of justice for allegedly destroying the evidence in a corruption case.
The ICAC said the case centred on a pupil's admission to CMA Choi Cheung Kok Secondary School in Tuen Mun last year.
According to the anti-graft body, a woman used a digital payment tool to send 10,000 yuan to the school's assistant principal, requesting his help to enrol her son in secondary two, instead of secondary one.
The assistant principal rejected the payment, and the case was reported to the principal.
Upon receiving a complaint, the ICAC started a probe and told the assistant principal not to delete his phone messages with the woman.
But the pair are alleged to have discussed deleting the messages, with the woman doing so in September last year.
