The Hong Kong Observatory cancelled all typhoon signals at 10:20pm on Sunday as Typhoon Matmo moved further away from the SAR.
Earlier, forecasters downgraded the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 – which had been in effect for over 24 hours – to the Standby Signal No. 1 at 3.40pm.
According to the Observatory, Matmo made landfall near Zhanjiang in Guangdong province and is continuing to move inland, causing local winds to gradually weaken.
