Reservations at hotels and restaurants have exceeded 90 percent, with locals as well as mainland tourists expected to light the way further in Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations.
Apart from the over 140-year-old Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, the festive vibes will also be burning bright for the throngs at the Victoria Park lantern carnival as well as in Wan Chai, lit up by hundreds of lanterns at Blue House and Lee Tung Avenue.
Simon Wong, president of the Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants and Related Trades, expects turnover to hit HK$350 million on the day of the festival on Monday, bringing it close to pre-Covid levels.
"This figure is quite ideal," he said.
"Recently, consumer sentiment has become stronger.
"This may be due to a few reasons – there is a stronger festive spending atmosphere; and many locals are spending more freely these days as a result of the recent stock-market boom."
Wong believes eateries in Causeway Bay will benefit from the three-day Fire Dragon Dance, adding that many restaurants across the city have been offering National Day perks and discounts to boost spending.
As for the hotel sector, the executive director of the Hong Kong Tourism Association, Timothy Chui, said some boutique hotels are even fully booked during the National Day Golden Week.
This year, he said, there is also a new experience for mainland tourists in the form of a "golden hour" when all they have to do is hop on an open-top double-decker.
"During sunset, the bus will go around Hong Kong Island or Kowloon for sightseeing," said Chui, who's also the managing director of O'Hotel.
"This is a trendy way of sightseeing these days. Imagine moon watching while the bus goes down to Connaught Road West Flyover from Hill Road Flyover, or watching the moon while taking the bus to go around spacious West Kowloon.
"I believe you cannot find such an experience anywhere else."
The MTR will step up train frequencies starting from 3pm on Mid-Autumn Festival.
Some light rail and all heavy rail lines, except Airport Express, Disneyland Resort Line and East Rail Line, plying between Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau, will operate overnight.
Tram services will also be extended till 1am.
Transportation arrangements for Star Ferry, Sun Ferry, and Hong Kong and Kowloon Ferry will be strengthened based on demand.
