Health officials on Saturday reported two new cases of chikungunya fever, bringing the total number of infections in Hong Kong this year to 31.
All of the infections have been linked to travel outside the SAR.
According to the Centre for Health Protection (CHP), the first new case involves a 69-year-old woman from Kwun Tong who travelled to Zhongshan in Guangdong province.
She developed a fever and joint pain two days after returning to the SAR on October 8 and is now in a stable condition.
The second new case is a 51-year-old man living in Wan Chai who visited Jieyang and Shantou in Guangdong, the CHP said.
The man reported a fever the day after his return on October 7, which was later followed by joint pain and a rash.
He is also in a stable condition.
The CHP said the woman had no household contacts, while the man's four travel companions and one household contact were asymptomatic and under medical surveillance.
