The personal information of about 20,000 Hong Kong customers has been compromised in a Qantas Airways data breach, according to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD).
Responding to media enquiries, the watchdog said it is trying to find out whether the SAR users' information is among data on 5.7 million passengers that is being shared on the dark web by hackers.
The airline informed the privacy office of the breach on July 9, saying the information stolen includes names, phone numbers, addresses and frequent flyer numbers.
Qantas has notified customers affected, the watchdog said, and it will submit more information to the office later this month.
Meanwhile, the PCPD said it has reached out to Discord to find out how many people in the SAR have been affected by a data breach at the social media platform.
Discord announced earlier this month that an unauthorised party had compromised one of its third-party vendors.
Some of the records accessed were of users who messaged the platform's customer service agents, and included their names, IP addresses and the last four digit of their credit cards.
The unauthorised party also gained access to photos of 70,000 global Discord users, the company said.
