Chief Executive John Lee said on Thursday the ever-changing global trade order is creating opportunities for Hong Kong in helping mainland companies go global as the SAR is the only city that can take advantage of its position as a conduit for both the mainland and the world.

Speaking at a conference co-organised by China Daily newspaper and the Hong Kong Coalition, Lee said Hong Kong stood as a premier gateway for co-operation, bringing people, trades, businesses, cultures and values across the region.

"Given the ever-changing global trade order, and our country's steadfast commitment to multilateralism, there is fast-growing demand around the globe for 'made-in-China' products," Lee said.

"I see growing opportunities in helping mainland companies go global through Hong Kong's world-class professional services."

Lee said the GoGlobal Task Force, launched this month, is focused on supporting mainland enterprises expand overseas.

"It is given a simple and important mandate: to assist mainland companies in taking their businesses globally," he said.

"And, through the process, create important value for both our country and Hong Kong. For a better tomorrow of us all."
