Three people, who were earlier found guilty for their involvement in bomb plots in 2020, have been sentenced to jail for at least 16 years and eight months each.
Ho Cheuk-wai, Lee Ka-pan and Cheung Ka-chun were found guilty of conspiring to cause an explosion of a nature likely to endanger life or cause serious injury to property under the Crimes Ordinance.
Ho was jailed for 18 years, while the other two each got a 16 year and eight month-sentence at the High Court.
In passing sentence, Justice Johnny Chan said their acts are a declaration of war against society, posing a danger to the public and the police.
He said the court cannot allow the public to bear such danger, and therefore the sentencing must be sufficiently deterrent and reflect the public's abhorrence of such crimes.
They were convicted by a jury in September for placing bombs in the men's washroom of Caritas Medical Centre and at Lo Wu MTR Station in 2020.
