The Fire Services Department said it will stay on high alert on Wednesday to brace for possible wildfires on Chung Yeung Festival.
Speaking on an RTHK programme, Deputy Chief Fire Officer Wong King-man said the department has identified eight locations with heightened wildfire risks in Yuen Long, Sheung Shui, Tin Shui Wai and Lau Fau Shan, after carrying out risk assessments using big data and on-site inspections.
He said a high command, led by an assistant director, has been set up to make sure timely responses can be made to wildfires and other emergencies, and to coordinate resources.
"The high command will cooperate with our Fire Services Communications Centre to offer help when wildfires happen. We will flexibly deploy our resources to deal with the wildfires," he said.
"We also have extra manpower of about 200 and the Civil Aid Service [on Wednesday]. We will actively deploy staff to patrol the identified wildfire locations."
Wong also said drones will be deployed, such as for aerial patrol to pinpoint wildfire locations quickly, and they'll be equipped with loudspeakers broadcasting messages to remind visitors not to leave behind kindling.
Large-scale drones that can carry up to 30 kilogrammes of weight will be used to transport firefighting tools and supplies, as a way to increase operation efficiency, he added.
