A ceremony was held on Wednesday in the City Hall Memorial Garden to honour those who sacrificed their lives defending Hong Kong during the Japanese occupation between 1941 and 1945, as the city marks Chung Yeung Festival.
The event began at 8am. After the national anthem was played and a flag-raising ceremony, participants observed a two-minute silence.
Acting Chief Executive Eric Chan laid a wreath.
Former chief executive Donald Tsang, Executive Council convenor Regina Ip and other senior officials attended the ceremony.
