Health officials reported a new imported case of chikungunya fever on Tuesday, bringing the city's total for the year to 56 so far.
The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) said the latest case involves a 60-year-old Tai Po resident who recently travelled to Cuba.
The woman developed joint pain on October 27, one day before returning to Hong Kong.
Her symptoms escalated to a fever on October 31, prompting her to seek hospital treatment, where she tested positive for the virus.
According to the CHP, the patient is now in stable condition.
Her two household contacts and travel companions to Cuba have remained asymptomatic.
Of the 56 confirmed cases recorded in Hong Kong this year, three have been local transmissions.
