Health authorities reported two more chikungunya fever cases on Wednesday, bringing the city’s tally this year to 58.
The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) said the latest patients are a 55-year-old woman living in Sai Kung District who recently visited Foshan in Guangdong, and a 37-year-old woman living in Tuen Mun District who recently arrived from Bangladesh.
Both are in stable condition.
Of the 58 confirmed cases recorded in Hong Kong this year, three have been locally transmitted.
The CHP also said it's doing a genome analysis of the latest local case, a 45-year-old man in Tsing Yi, to see if the genetic sequence of his viral sample matched with earlier local cases.
