More than 3,800 local stores on Sunday marked Senior Citizens Day by offering special discounts to the elderly.
The annual event, organised by the Social Welfare Department, is aimed at recognising the contributions of the elderly and raising public awareness over the need to care for our senior citizens.
The concession programme saw the participation of more than 400 organisations and merchants.
The MTR Corporation also offered free rides for elderly passengers aged 65 or above on its heavy rail, light rail and bus services.
However, the offer does not apply to the Airport Express, cross-boundary trips on the East Rail Line and High Speed Rail.
