Police said on Friday an industrial accident that happened more than a year ago has been reclassified as manslaughter and that two men have been arrested.
The incident ended with two women killed and three people injured when scaffolding measuring 15 by eight metres collapsed at a construction site in Kai Tak on February 20 last year.
The two men, a 48-year-old foreman and a 58-year-old scaffolder, were taken to Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts in the morning, following their arrest on Thursday.
They were each granted bail on HK$300,000. The duo were also ordered to surrender their travel documents, report to police daily and not to contact the prosecution's witnesses.
The case was adjourned to February 27 pending investigation.
