An elderly woman has died after being hit by a tour bus in Mong Kok.

Police said the fatal crash happened at around 3pm on Monday, near the intersection of Argyle Street and Sai Yee Street.

"A coach driven by a 59-year-old man was travelling along Sai Yee Street towards Tai Kok Tsui. When approaching the junction of Sai Yee Street and Argyle Street, it reportedly knocked down and ran over a 79-year-old female pedestrian," a police spokesperson said.

The woman, who suffered injuries to her head, was pronounced dead the scene.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.
