Firefighters rescued a resident and around 100 others fled to safety by themselves after a fire broke out in a housing block in Kowloon Bay on Tuesday.

Police said they were alerted to a fire in a flat at Lok Ching House, Kai Ching Estate, at about 2.30pm.

Online footage showed thick black smoke emerging from the unit.

Officers said no injuries were reported, adding that they were looking into the cause of the fire.
