The MTR Corporation on Friday said services on the Tung Chung Line and Airport Express are resuming as normal following the issuance of a warning earlier about longer travelling times due to a signalling problem.

That came earlier in the afternoon, when the rail operator said signal equipment was not operating smoothly at the Siu Ho Wan Depot on Lantau, thereby causing travel times on the two lines to be extended by about 15 to 20 minutes.

It was later able to shorten the longer travel times to about five to eight minutes.

Earlier, it also noted that the deadline for airport check-in services in urban areas had been extended to 120 minutes, rather than 90 minutes, before flight departures.

In its latest statement, the MTR Corporation noted that the signal problems at the depot had been temporarily repaired and that all services were gradually returning to normal.

It said staff would conduct another round of inspections once train services concluded on Friday.
