The Education Bureau will offer a special-incident grant to schools in support of students and parents left devastated by the No 5 alarm fire in Tai Po.

The grants will see HK$100,000 handed out to all secondary schools and primary schools in Tai Po and HK$50,000 to all Tai Po kindergartens.

Schools can utilise their grant flexibly – from providing counselling services to financial support to purchase learning materials, the bureau said.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club will provide HK$5,000 to each affected student to help them cope with their immediate learning needs in an attempt to reduce the fire's impact on their education.

Five online special-incident psychological support seminars will be held on Saturday and Sunday in support of school staff, parents and students who have been traumatised by the tragedy.

Psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers will be speaking in the seminars.

If any school campuses have been damaged in the blaze, the Education Bureau said it would carry out emergency repairs as soon as possible to ensure safety.

Educational psychologists and District School Development Section staff from the bureau will liaise closely with schools to offer help, it said.
