Chief Executive John Lee on Saturday led top government officials, Executive Council members and civil servants in three minutes of silence to mourn the victims of this week's fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po.

The tragedy has so far taken 128 lives.

Senior mainland officials, including Nong Rong, deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office; Xu Qifang, executive deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office; as well as Zhou Ji, director of Beijing's liaison office in Hong Kong, were among those in attendance at government headquarters at Admiralty.

All government buildings and facilities across Hong Kong will fly the national and Hong Kong SAR flags at half-mast for three days.

During this period, government officials will cancel all non-essential public events, and entertainment and celebration activities organised or funded by the government will also be cancelled or postponed as appropriate.
