More scaffold netting has been removed from buildings across Hong Kong ahead of a Saturday deadline.

The government said workers had removed the mesh netting at 115 private blocks and 18 public works building projects as of Friday afternoon.

Removal work has also been carried out at two subsidised housing estates – Yee Kok Court in Sham Shui Po and Kwun Tong's On Kay Court.

Authorities said they will continue to monitor the progress at Shui Wo Court in Sha Tin, Ching Lai Court in Sham Shui Po, as well as Chai Wan's Fung Wah Estate.

The order came on Wednesday as the government cited public safety and people's concerns in the wake of the deadly Wang Fuk Court fire.

Separately, public donations to a government fund for victims of the blaze have reached HK$2.7 billion.

Combined with the HK$300 million from the administration, the total pot is now at HK$3 billion.
