Turnout passes 4 percent after two hours of voting

More than 172,500 voters have cast ballots in the geographical constituency races of the 2025 Legislative Council elections in the first two hours of voting, representing a voter turnout of 4.2 percent so far.

General polling stations across the territory opened an hour earlier than usual at 7.30am, and will close at 11.30 on Sunday evening.

Voting was fairly balanced among the ten geographical constituencies as of 9.30am, with the highest percentage of voters turning up early in New Territories South West, at 4.5 percent, while New Territories North East was the laggard at 3.95 percent.

The overall turnout in the 30 functional constituency races reached 5.5 percent by 9.30am, led by an impressive 96 percent rate for the Commercial (third) seat.

For voters in the Election Committee constituency, 36.8 percent had cast votes over the first two hours of polling.
