China's exports topped forecasts for November, buoyed by a boost from a tariff truce with the United States, according to the General Administration of Customs on Monday.

Outbound shipments grew 5.9 percent year on year, beating a 3.8 percent forecast in a poll.

Imports were up 1.9 percent, compared to a 1 percent uptick in October.

China's total goods imports and exports in yuan-denominated terms rose to 41.21 trillion yuan in the first 11 months of 2025, up 3.6 percent year on year.

The growth rate remained flat compared with an increase of 3.6 percent registered in the first 10 months of the year.

In November alone, China's goods imports and exports edged up 4.1 percent year on year to 3.9 trillion yuan.

November kicked off with news that the United States and China had agreed to scale back some of their tariffs and a raft of other measures after President Xi Jinping met with his US counterpart Donald Trump in South Korea on October 30.

Economists estimate that diminished access to the US market has reduced China's export growth by roughly two percentage points, equivalent to around 0.3 percent of GDP.

China's trade surplus stood at US$111.68 billion in November, from US$90.07 billion recorded in October, and beating a forecast of US$100.2 billion. (Xinhua/Agencies)
