China will remain Jordan's most reliable strategic partner in its development and revitalisation process, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a visit to the Middle East country.
Wang made the remarks in a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan on Monday, according to Xinhua News Agency.
The foreign minister said under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and the king of Jordan, bilateral relations have maintained healthy and stable development.
Noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Jordan strategic partnership, Wang said Beijing stands ready to strengthen communication and coordination with Amman, implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and chart the course for the sound development of the bilateral strategic partnership in the next decade.
The Jordanian king said he cherishes his profound friendship with Xi, and that his country attaches great importance to developing ties with China.
The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East.
Noting the current situation is complex, Wang said China is willing to enhance communication and coordination with Jordan to jointly maintain regional peace, stability and development during his talks with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi.
Safadi, for his part, said Jordan firmly adheres to the one-China principle and highly commends China for upholding justice on the Palestinian issue, with both countries emphasising the need for a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in Gaza.
