The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing on Thursday said the United States should immediately stop its dangerous act of arming Taiwan, following Washington's decision to sell US$10 billion worth of weapons to the island.
Speaking at a regular news briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the US had brazenly announced the plan to sell advanced weapons to Taiwan, which seriously violated the one-China principle and the three China-US joint communiqués.
Guo added the US move severely undermined China's sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity while seriously disrupting peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and sending a gravely erroneous signal to separatist forces. (Xinhua)
